Sustainability governance

Elisa’s mission is a sustainable future through digitalisation. We use digitalisation to resolve issues that are important to people, society and sustainable development. These include safety, equality and determined action to help limit climate change.

Our vision is to be the global benchmark for generating value in communication and digital services. Our strategy focuses on persistent development of the customer experience and quality. Our values and strategy are the foundation of sustainable business. Important areas for us to develop sustainable operations are a secure and safe digital environment, promotion of equality, ethical business code and the actions against climate change.

The established pillars of corporate responsibility are social, financial and environmental responsibility. In addition to these, we have identified digital responsibility as a key part of our business, and review it as a separate sector. We measure our performance with regular surveys for customers, personnel and stakeholders as well as measuring carbon emissions.

Elisa's sustainability topics and targets

Elisa’s updated sustainability targets 2022-2024 focus on the availability of fast connections, cybersecurity, increasing its carbon handprint, the energy efficiency of the mobile network, innovations, and promoting equality.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

We are committed to the principles of the UN Global Compact in order to take responsibility for the sustainable development and good future of our planet. For our commitment, we aim to promote international standards related to working conditions, human rights, the environment and the prevention of corruption in all our countries of operation and in our network of partnerships.

Agenda 2030 consists of 17 UN-adopted Sustainable Development Goals, which aim to eradicate poverty and inequality and protect the world's resilience. Elisa's latest materiality assessment of the sustainable development goals was carried out in 2020.

Together with our stakeholders we identified and prioritised our most important sustainability themes – the ones that we can influence the most either through our own actions (footprint) or through services developed for our customers and other stakeholders (handprint). Promoting these is an important part of our responsibility and sustainable development.
